SPR Statement on COVID-19

Due to the current Coronavirus healthcare concerns, the Stokesdale Parks and Recreation Board has decided to suspend all SPR activities effective immediately. This includes games that were scheduled tonight through Sunday for the All Star Basketball tournament which was being hosted at the Stokesdale Elementary gym, as well as all practices and/or games that were scheduled for Spring Baseball, Soccer and Softball. Please know that while we understand this will be disappointing to many, especially the kids, based on current circumstances this decision was a necessary one and in line with athletic suspensions occurring in our surrounding areas.

We will continue to monitor the situation on a weekly basis and will update our position on this suspension every Sunday beginning Sunday March 22nd, until such time that we can resume activities as normal. Updates will be provided via email as well as on our website and Facebook page. Our hope is that circumstances surrounding this virus will improve and concerns will diminish so that the precautionary suspension can be lifted in a time frame that will allow us the opportunity to complete the All Star Basketball tournament and resume practices/games for all Spring Sports. Until then, we thank you for your patience as we do our best to manage this unusual situation in a way that will ensure the best interest and safety of all participates and their families.
